As social has become a part of our everyday lives, digital education is not just an option—it’s a necessity for the future generation,” said Ifoma Smart, Senior Director of Customer Value at Hootsuite. “Social media marketing as an industry requires continued education and upskilling to keep up pace with the constantly evolving space. Opening accessibility to education on social media in secondary school programs demonstrates Hootsuite’s continued commitment to education—in this instance, equipping high school students—who are immersed in social every day— with the tools they need to succeed in a social-first world.”

“Jelly Academy’s Digital Marketing program has proven to be an amazing program for our students,” said Dawn Anderson, Careers Lead Teacher, Comox Valley Schools.  “It has allowed them to leave high school with skills, knowledge, and job opportunities that will support them as they navigate their future steps and pathways.”

Digital marketing skills are among the most in demand in Canada. Similar to other career-oriented programs in secondary, this program will help students develop the necessary skills to gain employment.

"Linkedin data shows a growing demand for more digital marketing professionals. I commend the Province of BC and the Ministry of Education for investing in and providing this opportunity for Grade 12 students to explore this in demand career through micro-credentials and future skills pathways," said Jake Hirsch-Allen, Workforce Development and Skills Lead, LinkedIn Talent Solutions.
