On this episode of Marketing News Canada, Darian Kovacs interviews Miranda Lievers, the Co-Founder and COO of Thinkific.

Miranda is a Vancouver-based entrepreneur devoted to the intersection of small business and technology. As the Co-Founder and COO of Thinkific, she helped over 50,000 business owners earn over half a billion dollars with online courses to date while educating tens of millions of students. Miranda is also an active writer and mentor for women in business.

Thinkific was designed as a self-serve platform. The platform makes it easy for thousands of independent experts and companies to quickly create and deliver stunning online courses on their own sites. The brand is passionate about helping customers grow their businesses through education.

One of the most rewarding aspects of Miranda’s job is helping small businesses. During COVID lockdowns, all businesses were affected, but small ones of course took a greater hit. Many of them were forced to shut down, “but thanks to Thinkific, we were able to save some which means more to me than I could explain,” says Miranda.

Thinkific was incredibly useful during the pandemic and this is when the business saw its most growth. This is due to the fact that since some businesses were shut down, employees were forced to diversify their skill set in order to find a new source of income, thanks to Thinkific, it was made more simple.

The reason this platform appeals to such a large audience is the fact that it can be integrated into any schedule. Learning does not have to be live anymore, and it does not have to take place in person. It is becoming more common that parents want to expand their skill sets or change careers and going back to school to complete a four-year degree is not realistic for them. Thinkific can supply parents or anyone for that matter with the skills they need to obtain the job they want.

Something that is appealing about school to many people is that there are others taking the same classes as you, this does not change because Thinkific is online. There are still other students learning the same material as you, that you can connect and interact with. This often makes the learning process easier for some people when they know other people are in the same position.

Another way the brand has grown is by partnering with larger companies such as Hootsuite. Hootsuite offers learning opportunities through Thinkific to help their own company grow, but it has also benefited Thinkific. Another partnership that has taken place is with influencers, where on social media they share the courses they have taken and how it has helped them in their industry.

Thinkific is a platform that is useful to everyone and can help businesses grow. Miranda is dedicated to the brand and seeing it excel, that is what makes her the ideal COO and Co-Founder.
