On this episode of Marketing News Canada, Darian Kovacs interviews Jared Correia, the Founder and CEO at Red Cave Law firm Consulting.
Jared has been a practicing attorney, and bar association administrator. Now he serves as a consultant to attorneys seeking to open their own practice or to improve the running of their current practice, as well as consulting to legal institutions and companies seeking to reach the legal market.
When beginning his career in law, Jared had the preconceived notion that all lawyers knew how to do was practice law, and he said this was correct. They often struggled on the business side of things and did not know how to obtain growth.
Jared saw a need for law firms, and that was a lead generation tool. He stated that, “there are tools out there that help generate leads, but none specifically for law firms.” So that is how he came up with the idea for his company. Unfortunately as he started to see growth in the amount of firms using his software, the pandemic happened.
When it comes to starting a business, Jared says it is important to be consistent. Being consistent will grow your audience. It can be stated that 40 percent of podcasts only have one episode, largely because people give up. The same goes for business start-ups, you cannot expect it to be profitable right away.
A reason many law firms hire marketers is due to the fact that they are often more educated when it comes to technology. They are tech-savvy and know what it takes to help with digital marketing efforts.
Jared noted that more often than not, when a partnership between a law firm and a marketing agency goes wrong, it is due to lack of communication. The two businesses are very different, so it is important that they work together to make sure operations are carried out seamlessly.
When it comes to building connections, says Jared, after a while they will come to you. He said he has built enough of a network that he no longer feels the need to reach out to people, they now come to him. He believes it is important to let people know you are fans of their work, just as he did with the Marketing News Canada Podcast.
Advice he has to all working professionals is to block your time. He stated that if you were to work everyday until all your work is completely done, you would become miserable. He has blocks of time in his day that he spends strictly with his family and does not work, and he said this keeps him motivated.
With specialties in writing, public speaking, researching, consulting and non-profit, Jared is an all around expert at his profession.
