To help bring the visually impaired and blind community together, Purdy’s has created a first-of-its-kind Holiday Braille Box. Designed in partnership with the blind and visually impaired community, the box would allow customers to have easier access to the chocolate flavour of their choice this holiday season. It’s being offered in the 10 most spoken languages in Canada (English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Mandarin, Cantonese, Punjabi, Tagalog and Arabic).

When released, it was high in demand and sold out quickly; however, the Holiday Braille box will be available again before the Holiday season ends. Additionally, Purdy’s announced that because of the huge demand, they will re-release it during the new year.

Another great example of brands expanding their services and products to strive for accessibility and inclusion.

SkipTheDishes launched its first express lane service in Canada. Skip will bring customers local favourites, snacks and everyday essentials in less than 25 minutes. This service will be nationwide and can be expected to see the expansion of 38 new fulfillment centres by mid-2022.

Skip Express Lane will have an extensive menu of over 1,500 items, including personal hygiene products, everyday essentials and baby products at grocery store prices.

This allows Skip to create roughly 1,000 new jobs across the market through the delivery service offered. To continue to support local shops and stores, Skip Express Lane will work directly with vendors to incorporate community favourite items. This allows consumers to continue to support and shop locally while offering convenience.

Howard Migdal, the Chief operating officer, mentions that Canadians will be able to have access to the convenience of everyday essentials being delivered to the doorstep in 25 minutes. Kevin Edwards, the CEO of SkipTheDishes adds that it’s another way they are able to contribute to supporting local businesses through the pandemic and beyond. There has been an increase in demand for convenience and grocery options by 900% year over year.
