Judith Lewis Speaks to the Value of the Canadian Search Awards

Judith is the Founder of Decabbit Consultancy and an advocate for the Canadian Search Awards. A native Torontonian, Judith has been in the marketing game for 24 years, and is passionate about the recognition of Canadians in the world of marketing. She feels that much of the content coming out of Canadian Marketing Agencies are special and should not be put under the “North American” umbrella. Starting in the UK, the Search Awards has gained traction around the world, and is about showcasing advertising ideas in the search industry in fun and creative ways with oftentimes limited budgets.

“The Search Awards are all about celebrating what you've done well and showing us as judges what you're working on, how well you've done that piece of work, and the amazing results you’ve got for your client.” Explains Judith. Oftentimes, these works are under an NDA but these awards allow you the opportunity to showcase without the worry of sharing information to the public. Judith feels strongly about the value of Canadian work and is proud of the number of quality ideas that come out of Canada. Even if you feel like you don't have enough time to submit, your amazing works should be recognized and not grow old without the award they deserve. Judith mentions that by putting yourself out there to win an award is a great way to stand out from your competition when you have that on your resume and journey a step above your peers. “Sometimes we don’t realize the amount of good we’ve done,” and Judith thinks we should all take a step away once in a while to think about how much good you've done in the last year and share this with others, through the Search Awards. If you're applying for an award, Judith recommends applying for one of the vertical awards for the specialism you're operating in rather than the generic “best of” awards, to get even better results.

Judith became deeply involved in the awards after searching for a way to recognize the skills and abilities of SEO workers, especially because the SEO industry is constantly evolving. Somewhat of a peer review, experts in the SEO industry look at your entries, and a big thing that they look for in good SEO work is ethical practices, how you can demonstrate ethical behavior, and your approach.
