Dr. Martens Launches Chapter Two of PRIDE GENERATIONS

Dr. Martens is reminding their audience where they put their foot (or should I say boot) down when it comes to pride.

The coveted footwear brand recently launched PRIDE GENERATIONS - NIGHTLIFE. PROUD THEN. PROUD NOW. PROUD ALWAYS, chapter two of the multi-faceted PRIDE GENERATIONS campaign created to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community.

Based on the premise that we can build connections between the past and present by learning from different generations and sharing their experiences, PRIDE GENERATIONS brings together five movers and shakers within the LGBTQIA+ space to capture awe-inspiring video content, shared through the lenses of Protest, Creativity and Nightlife.

Dr. Martens is a proud and longstanding advocate and champion for the LGBTQIA+ community, showcased through multi-year partnerships in support of LGBTQIA+ organizations and the unwavering promise to be inclusive of gender identity and sexual orientation each day of the year.

PRIDE GENERATIONS is one of the many ways Dr. Martens honours the LGBTQIA+ community 365 days a year. Their program also includes:

  • Committing $200K to The Trevor Project: For the sixth consecutive year of partnership with The Trevor Project, Dr. Martens has pledged to contribute $200K to the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQIA+ youth.

  • Providing a platform to share generational voices: Dr. Martens’ PRIDE GENERATIONS video campaign leverages award-winning LGBTQIA+ director, Jess Kohl, to create two unique short films focused on Protest and Nightlife. In Ep. 1, we hear perspectives from Lady Phyll, Founder of UK Black Pride and Lucia Blayke, Co-Founder of London Trans+ Pride. The newly-launched Ep. 2 features testimonials from Kia LaBeika, ballroom dancer/photographer & mother of the house of La’Beija, alongside, Lee Soulja, Club Kid, dancer and creator of NYC Black Pride Festival Weekend.

  • Regional collaborations with local artists: As part of the Canadian campaign strategy, Dr. Martens is partnering with two local queer artists to design custom shoes for six LGBTQIA+ content creators, championing advocacy for their respective rights. Dr. Martens is proud to bring the campaign to life with Canadian artists, Stevie Minacs and Tee Fergus.

  • Limited-edition 1461 For Pride Smooth Leather Oxford Shoes: The new limited-edition 1461 shoe, available for purchase in Canada as of mid-June, pays tribute to all those who engage with and support the Pride movement. A monochrome white shoe acts as a blank canvas to highlight the Progress Pride flag colours.

In the words of Dr. Marten, Pride is more than a single moment in the calendar. Gender identity and sexual orientation are important every single day. It’s disrespectful to think otherwise. That’s why we are continuing our year-round partnership with The Trevor Project, the world's largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQIA+ youth. In this, our 6th year of partnership with The Trevor Project, we are continuing our sponsorship with a $200,000 commitment.
