In this episode of Marketing News Canada, Shelley McArthur Everett interviews Mandy Gilbert, Founder & CEO of Creative Niche Inc.

Shelley and Mandy discuss the "why" behind her company, Creative Niche Inc. After realizing that she was not philosophically aligned with her previous company, Mandy declined a promotion offer, resigned, took a personal line of credit, and founded a recruitment agency. Creative Niche is now in the process of scaling its business and launching its secondary company over Covid.

Mandy believes that vulnerability can be an asset that allows you to grow meaningful relationships. Sometimes vulnerability can be seen as a weakness, but it can build trust and show humanness with co-workers. Previously Creative Niche Inc. focused on more executional and conceptual roles, but now there's been a heavier focus on technical roles and emerging roles. Recruitment now focuses on more specific roles related to UX and UI, project management, and CMO’s to help with the company’s growth. Counteroffers have also become more common with company’s doubling down on their retention strategy.
