On this episode of Marketing News Canada, Darian Kovacs interviews Kray Mitchell from Shopify.
Kray is a multi talented entrepreneur from Kelowna, British Columbia. With a passion for technology and all things business, he strives to help companies accelerate and grow their consumer base. Kray works with businesses of all sizes. With a background in IT, Film and Television, web design and graphics, he is capable of providing key insights necessary for business growth. From marketing to search engine optimization, he can ease businesses frustrations that occur in the development and marketing phases of a company. A lot of uncertainty may occur in starting a business, and he strives to relieve some of this stress and make the process as seamless as possible.
Kray’s role at Shopify is to consult with both local and international businesses. He partakes in business coaching as well as event planning. One of his favourite virtual events that has been organized by Shopify was “20 questions on Search Engine Optimization Marketing.” This event was fun, but informative and useful, states Kray.
In regards to improving business and accelerating growth, there are some key factors to consider. Kray states that the most commonly missed factors include people not knowing where to source their products from. With a major increase in the demand for drop shipping in the past few years this has become more important than ever as buyers demand quality products. It may seem simple, however many businesses do not know who their target market is. Without knowing your consumers and what their pain points are, marketing becomes very difficult. He works with businesses one on one to define “who” they are really trying to reach. Lastly he stated that a common area businesses need to improve is their content marketing and how to use resources such as a blog effectively.
There are some things that set businesses apart. If he could choose three, Kray states that they are user experience, customer service and brand storytelling. Consumers choose to resonate with brands their values align with, through great storytelling business can ensure this happens.
Other Shopify resources discussed in this interview include their online learning academy. This has grown in popularity tremendously due to the current global pandemic. The online platform includes online classes, live workshops, and step by step business guides on how to improve factors such as customer retention.
If search engine optimization is something that is important to a business, as it is important to most, Kray suggests users to listen to Shopify Masters Podcast. He states that it is a way to expand knowledge in a free and simple way. If a podcast is not the preferred way to receive information, Shopify also has a blog that contains plenty of useful information.
Kray is an optimistic and passionate individual that is a strong addition to the Shopify team.
