CANADA'S MARKETING, ADVERTISING, PR AND COMMUNICATIONS HALL OF FAME

Canada's Marketing, Advertising, PR and Communication Hall of Fame could be the Canadian marketing, advertising, PR and communication industry’s most prestigious award.

We recognize individuals who have played a meaningful, long (10+ years) role in contributing to one or various businesses' success. They may also have led a career that has led to breakthroughs, firsts and contributions to the marketing, advertising, PR and communication industry as a whole.

The inductees to the 2024 Hall of Frame will be announced at this year's Social West Marketing Conference, June 5-7.

LAX SKIIK (EAGLE)

BY W.J (JAMIE) STERRITT

The Eagle is a sacred creature, highly revered by the First Nations of Northwestern BC, symbolizing focus, strength, peace, and leadership.

The Eagle is wrapped in a circle, the never-ending whole, its beak near its tail as an invitation to consider the beginnings, endings, and overlaps in our journeys. The placement of black on white amplifies the presence of power, energy, action, creation and passion.

Jamie is a member of the Gitxsan nation from the Skeena River area of northern British Columbia, now residing in Kamloops with his two daughters.

Using strong, bold lines and traditional uniformed shapes, Sterritt's work embodies both the force and beauty of everyday life.  His style is based on traditional northwest coast design and is true to Gitxsan art. He acquired his interest in the art from his late father Neil and his uncles, who are accomplished artists and craftsmen in their own right.

Jamie is from the Lax Gibuu (Wolf) clan. His traditional name is Wii Nagim Tts'uwingat.
