For One Day Only, Reality Is Relative

To celebrate its long-awaited post-pandemic return to Toronto, Cirque du Soleil is flipping its campaign on its head with an upside-down takeover at Yonge-Dundas Square (YDS) on Friday, March 25.

To raise awareness for the highly-anticipated arrival of KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities presented by Sun Life Global Investments in Toronto, Cirque du Soleil is turning things upside down!

Read the announcement from the Cirque team below:

Inspired by the world of KURIOS, where the unexpected lies at every corner, two full-sized cars painted gold will be upside-down in the Square to grab the attention of passers-by and shopping crowds; while KURIOS marketing displayed across multiple video boards at YDS and throughout the city will be turned upside down for one day only, where “reality is relative.”

During the lunchtime rush on Friday March 25, from Noon to 12.15pm keep an eye out for a glimpse into another world, as KURIOS artists make a surprise appearance atop the upside-down cars to delight onlookers and mark the opening of shows on April 14. The car concept was developed and designed by Quebec-based agency Gipsy, taking more than four weeks to reinforce the body, and bring it stable enough for the artists. There is also a multimedia and artifact installation inside to bring the live experience, fun, attractive and engaging for the audience. Each car will have a QR code that takes fans to purchase tickets to KURIOS, which has extended its Toronto dates from April 14 through to July 17, 2022.

Following its debut at Yonge-Dundas Square, the KURIOS cars will be appearing in pop-up locations across the city for another two weeks - keep an eye out for peculiar sights!
