Renowned Canadian media outlet The Message announced today that it has been acquired by leading global media company Haymarket’s flagship publication Campaign.

The acquisition presents an opportunity for Campaign to tap into the Canadian media landscape while leveraging The Message's already established position and expertise within the industry.

But that’s not the only benefit that comes with the acquisition.

A second is that Campaign now has the perfect opportunity to tap into Canada’s advertising and marketing industry, which has experienced growth in recent years.

By aligning with The Message's local expertise, Campaign can provide its readership with comprehensive insights into the Canadian market, which will likely skyrocket its international credibility.

Additionally, Campaign's expanded presence in Canada enables the publication to foster relationships with key players in the advertising and marketing sectors. The acquisition will facilitate partnerships and collaborations with Canadian brands, agencies, and thought leaders, leading to increased global networking opportunities for Campaign's readership.

Haymarket's expansion into Canada also aligns with the company's overarching goal of expanding its global footprint. With Campaign as its flagship publication, it’s clear that Haymarket has made previous efforts to deliver insightful and innovative content to professionals in the advertising, marketing, and media industries.

Through this acquisition, Haymarket demonstrates its commitment to providing localized content that resonates with audiences in different markets. The expansion not only broadens Haymarket's readership but also establishes a strong international network for sharing industry knowledge and best practices.

As for what happens now, we know that The Message will be co-branded with Campaign until early next year. Editors David Brown and Chris Powell will remain in charge of editorial operations while Jess MacDermot, global portfolio director at Haymarket, will lead day-to-day management.

Jess MacDermot shared feelings of pride on behalf of her team via the announcement.

"We are so proud to be expanding the Campaign brand into such a vibrant and dynamic advertising market, which is currently going from strength to strength and increasing its significance on the global ad scene,” said MacDermot.

David Brown, Co-Founder and Editor at The Message used the same medium to reflect on the history of The Message.

“We launched The Message in part because we love covering marketing, media and advertising, but also because we believed we could contribute something good for the industry itself,” Brown said. “By shining a light on the people and work that deserves to be spotlighted, while also making sure to ask questions and set expectations, The Message strives to ensure the Canadian industry keeps moving forward in positive ways.”
