This episode of Marketing News Canada features cofounder of Pressboard Media Jerrid Grimm. Jerrid is an entrepreneur and a marketer. He started working for an ad agency in Vancouver where they did bathroom ads for restaurants, campuses, and gyms. They did a lot of “agency-style business” he says. From there he discovered his love of content, so he started Pressboard about seven years ago.
Pressboard is a content analytics company. You can think of it as the middleman that creates beneficial relations between advertisers and the media. Their primary customer base has become media companies and big influencers. Media companies create huge amounts of branded content every month, and that's where Pressboard comes in. The media publications plug in their data to the system. This way the advertiser can observe and oversee the campaign. The advertiser can add it to their “super report” at the end of the campaign to analyze success, engagement, and timelines.
Jerrid says there was a lot of demand for news tools to be built that were not centred around display ads. They created a safe way for you to open up the progress of a specific campaign to another party without exposing all your information in one go. Discovering a campaign's progress in real time is something that makes Pressboard unique. Unlike Google Analytics, Pressboard allows seamless campaign reporting. They have specific analytics on scrolling behavior allowing you to monitor conversion data, or to see if a purchase was made. They have the ability to set up tags in a strategic way. For example, they can tell if someone found a link on Facebook, which led them to a different page they spent X amount of time on, and so on. They can analyze all of it from start to finish.
According to Jerrid, most media companies in Canada use PressBoard. Advertisers don’t always know it’s PressBoard because of white labelling. However Jerrid claims almost every advertiser in North America has most likely received a PressBoard report at some point in time.
