Publicis Media Shares Results of its Program for Small Business Owners

Publicis Media Canada, the Canadian subdivision of the leading global media company, is proud to share the success of the third edition of its support program for small business owners in the Greater Toronto Area. The program, which provides out-of-home support to small business owners in the Greater Toronto Area, with a focus on BIPOC or female-owned shops,  has over-delivered between 114 and 193%.

Small businesses have been hit particularly hard by the economic impacts of the pandemic, according to the latest Bank of Canada survey, about 30% of companies expect their sales to decrease over the next year. Small businesses make up to 98.1% of all employer businesses in Canada, they are the core of our economy. As such, it is vital to support them.

“Supporting small businesses is not just good for the economy. We all know someone, a friend, a neighbour, who owns an independent business. We believe in the power of giving back to the community, and that’s why we are committed to making a positive impact in the Greater Toronto  Area” said David Rusli, Chief Strategy and Data Officer at Publicis Media Canada.

This year, Publicis Media Canada has supported the following 10 businesses:

  • Nonna Lia: GTA’s top rated tiramisu and desserts with authentic recipes from the Italian  Alps.

  • Good Cheese: A locally loved cheese shop.

  • CurlsShoppe: Selling natural hair products manufactured in Toronto.

  • Turkey Shoot Brewing Co.: Georgina’s craft brewery.

  • Toronto Micro Weddings: A budget friendly, small event planning with a drive on hiring  BIPOC talent & local vendors.

  • AfterWerk Events: Entertainment company that produces iconic LGBTQ+ dance parties in  Toronto.

  • Atelier CahterineCatherine: An architecture firm specialized in utilizing small spaces.

“Nothing quite compares to seeing your brand up on a billboard throughout your city! This opportunity  was amazing and I’m so grateful for the experience. A bucket list item has officially been checked off!”,  said Rowan McAnoy, owner of CurlsShoppe.
